Now I know what you are all probably thinking – ‘baby shower’ huh? What’s that got to do with papercrafting? Well, I will tell you! lol
You see, my lovely daughter and her hubby are expecting their first baby soon and a couple of their lovely friends were organising a baby shower, so I asked if they would like me to make the baby shower invites, favours and anything else. They said they’d love it if I would so I got to work first of all making the baby shower Invites. It was so exciting, making these for our daughter as it will be our first grandchild too!
I made a ‘nappy’ template and cut out 24 of them, folded them and then using a really cute stamp of a deer from a stamp set called ‘Made with Love’, from Stampin’Up!, I stamped all over the inside and outside of the nappy, using black stazon ink. Then I coloured all the deer, although I must admit I only coloured the ones on the outside of the nappy – well colouring 24 of them was soooooo time consuming and boring hehehe. Then I stamped on Whisper White CS 24 Nappy Pins using a nappy pin stamp from ‘Something for Baby’ stamp set and cutting them out with the matching die from ‘Baby’s First’ Framelit dies. I added a velcro fastener to the back to the nappy pin to enable the nappy to be open and closed.
I then cut some Whisper White CS and stamped ‘Please Join us for a Baby Shower’ on it. This was from the stamp set ‘Sweet li’l One’. I layered this up onto some So Saffron CS and stuck it to the back of the nappy. (it looks smudgy as I blanked out the name of the person getting the invite)
I cut another piece of Whisper White CS and stamped ‘when, where, RSVP and wrote out the details (I’ve blanked those details out, hence the smudgy look lol). Again I layered this onto So Saffron and stuck it to the inside of the nappy.
Here’s all the baby shower invites together ready to send out! I was so thrilled how they turned out and more importantly so was my daughter, her hubby and her friends.
Next I set to making the favour boxes and tags. I wanted to make the tags very special, something everyone could keep as a memory of the lovely day. So I got some small Kraft boxes from Stampin’Up!, cut five squares per box of So Saffron CS and stamped stars all over using Delightful Dijon Ink. The star stamp also came from the ‘Sweet li’l One’ stamp set. Then I stuck these to the boxes using Tombow glue. I made the tag with Whisper White CS and used the Scalloped Tag Topper punch for the top of the tag. The ‘A Little Thanks’ sentiment, isn’t that just lovely? Well it came from the ‘One Big Meaning’ Stamp set, and the cute cat was from the ‘Made with Love’ stamp set again. Told you ‘baby shower’ would have everything to do with papercrafting and Stampin’UP! lol Finally I stamped the deer again on some Whisper White CS and punched it out using the scallop circle punch, sponging the edges with so saffron ink. I attached the tag to the box using Hello Honey Satin Ribbon, glue dots and covered the ends of the ribbon with the scallop punched Deer stuck on with Dimensionals. I hope you agree they look gorgeous and everyone was thrilled to have them, especially when they saw the tiny tic tacs box and 3 little chocolate eggs inside. lol
On the back of the tag I stamped a baby bumblebee, another Stampin’Up! stamp unfortunately now retired, but I held onto it – just in case! lol
My daughters friends wanted to do some games but nothing too ‘out there’ lol so they suggested people could write on a card a message to my daughter, hubby and the baby. I told them I had a lovely tree I’d bought ages ago from Stampin’Up! for displaying my Cards but never got round to using it – well I did buy three! lol So I said I’d prepare the cards and bring them along with the tree and clothespins – yep Stampin’Up! again hehe for everyone to write on. As you can see from the card, I used some Project Life Grid cards, stamped stars all over to match the favour boxes and ‘Welcome to the World little one’ again both stamps from ‘Sweet li’l One’ stamp set. Actually I must come clean, my darling hubby helped by stamping all the stars on all the cards for me! hehe.
When my daughter and hubby got home from the baby shower, they sat down and read all the lovely dreams and wishes everyone had written and apparently they were lovely. We haven’t seen them, I think it’s something for them to have for themselves. It is going into the babies room, as a reminder of the special day when all their friends celebrated with them.
Finally I decided in a moment of madness to make a Diaper Cake! How mad was I, and again my poor suffering hubby was pulled in to help me. lol I rolled up 108 (I think it was) nappies and he put elastic bands on all of them. Then we got the biggest cake stand and placed some on that securing them into a circle with elastic – that was the most tricky bit and frustrating hehe. We placed a gift in the middle of that layer, then placed a smaller cake stand on top and repeated the process and then a smaller one for the top layer. Putting little gifts in middle of all the layers. Then we put muslin squares around each layer to resemble icing and secured them with gorgeous ribbon (yep had to get Stampin’UP! products in here somehow lol). We put a muslin square on the top of the cake and added a lovely toy deer – get the theme – deer? hehe. We covered it all in cellophane, tying it up with some of the Hello Honey ribbon I used earlier on the tags.
Phew it was a mammoth task to finish everything in time, but with hubbies help we did it! So you see ‘Baby Shower’, the title certainly had everything to do with papercraft and Stampin’Up! We had a wonderful day at the baby shower and I’m sure our daughter and her hubby will have lots of lovely memories of that day.
So if I have inspired you to have a go at making your own baby shower invites etc, place an order and I will give you the instructions to make everything I made. It’s so nice doing it yourself, you get to choose a theme, in this case, I ran deers and yellow all the way through, and you can make it unique to you and your loved ones.
Thanks for dropping by.
